Patients must keep a list of their current prescriptions, over-the-counter drugs, and supplements. When they are considering bakuchiol, they must also list the active ingredients in their skincare products! In some cases, they cannot use bakuchiol with certain medications. Other times, they have to have adjusted doses! Bakuchiol cannot be used with certain skincare ingredients. For instance, dermatologists recommend against using it with glycolic acid! This acid causes bakuchiol to degrade. As a result, it will not be as effective!

Topical treatments for acne, eczema, or similar conditions are not always appropriate to use with bakuchiol. This applies to both prescription and over-the-counter options! Thus, patients must talk to their dermatologist to determine what is best for their needs. The reason is that bakuchiol often changes how topical treatments work! Finally, the oral version is only safe when a doctor recommends it.
