Overview Of The Symptoms Of Iliotibial Band Syndrome
Buttock Tenderness

Clearly, most symptoms of iliotibial band syndrome happen around the affected knee. However, some other signs also occur! Specifically, this syndrome causes issues around the top of the iliotibial band as well. One such issue is buttock tenderness. This happens when the iliotibial band is too tight! When this band is tight, it triggers friction against the hip. When patients move, this friction eventually results in hip and buttock tenderness. In most cases, this tenderness starts in their hip. Of course, it almost always radiates to their buttock on the same side! Patients do not experience this pain in the other buttock.
